MARTIN MARGIELA RETROSPECTIVE - PARIS 2018

A Martin Margiela retrospective is coming to Paris' Palais Galliera in March 2018.
The Belgian designer will co-curate the show with Olivier Saillard, director of the fashion museum, and in true Margiela style, it's all very secretive on the details for now.

Margiela began his career in Paris in 1980 as an assistant to Jean Paul Gaultier, later running his own label between 1989 and 2009. The brand was eventually bought by Italian Renzo Rosso in 2002, and in 2009 Margiela left the company. After years of anonymous designers heading up the label, John Galliano was appointed Creative Director in 2014, when the brand became Maison Margiela.

It's one of the most boundary-pushing labels in the business thanks to Martin's own unique vision, with a legacy that turns preconceptions of clothing on its head - it’s a world where everything is beautiful, and nothing (deliberately) makes sense.
