Astrid Andersen has collaborated with Topman on a 17 piece luxe streetwear collection which drops with a little help from hip hop's A$AP Ferg.
The Danish designer and 'NEWGEN Men' recipient who presents her SS15 collection at London Collections: Men later this month, has created a range which follows her signature oversize silhouette and includes neoprene bomber jackets, brushed back fleece sweatpants, funnel neck sweatshirts, closed mesh oversized tees and shorts, oversize vests and the centre-piece - a carnation pink crushed velvet tracksuit which introduces an unconventional and daring element to the Topman menswear selection.
Set across a colour-palette of black, white and carnation pink on contrasting fabrics, metallic detailing such as copper foils enhance the visual mood of the collection, which was inspired by a website Andersen discovered on Punjab basket teams from India.
"There were images from the early 50s right up to today, so the inspiration became the crossover references on how this was originally a national sport, but as time progressed it became highly Americanised. The colour code and metal reflect the traditional Indian use of colours but in a tight palette."
Prices start from £50 and the collection will be available via the Topman website and Topman Oxford Circus, Selfridges, Topman New York and LA from June 12.
