Hosted By The 90s: DKNY x Opening Ceremony

Every now and again there comes a collaboration which makes me want to put my darkest sunglasses on and wish I could un-see it. So here now is the latest fashion pairing to fall under that description as DKNY have teamed up with Opening Ceremony to reissue 15 pieces from its 90s streetwear fashion vault, all re-interpreted in a new limited edition collection.

The range, which makes me think of Salt 'n' Pepa (p-push it reeeeeeeal good) harks back to the early 90s when the fashion label first started making tees, hoodies, sweatshirts and all kinds of accessories logo-stamped with 'DKNY' which was the choice du jour among fashion students at The London College of Fashion, well, on my degree anyway.... yes I'm talking about you Grace Woodward.

"DKNY was a pioneer of streetwear fashion in the Nineties," said Carol Lim, co-founder of Opening Ceremony. "We have been longtime fans of the brand and were very excited to bring back select, quintessential styles that feel fresh even today."

The capsule collection includes a cropped puffer jacket (think Sonja and Bros), a hoodie, NYC-skyline tees (the kind you wear to the gym), hooded maxi dresses (think Neneh Cherry) and the ultimate 90s look: the colour block zip-front jumpsuit. The range is available now at Opening Ceremony stores in London, New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo, as well as online. Prices range from $145 (£92) for a tee, to $665 (£420) for outerwear.

This collaboration totally should've come with an accompanying vid starring 90s refugee Paula Abdul body popping with campaign model Cara Delevingne to THIS - if you're going to bring the 90s back, then Paula Abdul is always available for hire.
And if there are any other fashion designers or brands out there also thinking of re-hashing the 90s this year (Ashish was excused last season because I love hair scrunchies) - let's just agree now that LA Gear, Global Hypercolour, Birkenstocks and anything that makes you look like a backing dancer in a Jody Watley video can stay right where it is.
