Grimes Designs Capsule Collection for Saint Laurent

With her tune "Oblivion" acting as the soundtrack to almost every catwalk show in 2011/12, not to mention becoming Karl Lagerfeld's new BFOTF (best-friend-on-the-frow) at his SS13 couture show - Grimes, aka Claire Boucher, is now collaborating with Saint Laurent on a five-piece capsule collection of T-shirts.

The pairing came about after Hedi Slimane lensed the synthpop singer in Givenchy couture for the cover of Dazed & Confused magazine, and I imagine the conversation when something like, 'Hey, once I get rid of the Y, do you want to come and be part of the S L?' (referring to the muchly-debated name change of YSL to Saint Laurent), and obviously Grimes, she say yes.

Slimane is of course very much the music-lover having already tapped hipster and multi-instrumentalist Beck to front his first-ever Saint Laurent ad campaign, and he's designed stage outfits for Mick Jagger, Jack White, The Libertines, Franz Ferdinand and The Kills. He also commissioned young British bands to create original soundtracks for the Dior Homme catwalk shows.

The Grimes tees for Saint Laurent feature a series of eclectic and dark illustrations in line with her artistic signature, based on Yves Saint Laurent's original "Love" posters, and will retail at $320 to $350, which is a snip to own a piece of wearable artwork.
The collection is available now at
If you haven't yet checked out her work as an artist, head HEREand while it's a Grimes-fest kinda day, let's watch my fav song and video, "Genesis".
