When Boy Meets Girl: Saskia de Brauw for Saint Laurent SS13 Menswear

Just in case you didn't already know, fashion loves androgyny, so here is the trend that designers never tire of in the Saint Laurent Menswear SS13 campaign, featuring a boyish-looking Saskia de Brauw shot by Hedi Slimane.
The campaign, which pays homage to the label's signature androgynous style invented by YSL in the 60s with the now iconic 'Le Smoking' tuxedo jacket, was shot in the same moody and monochrome style of other recent campaigns from the rebranded fashion house (see a previous shoot I featured with Anja Rubik HERE). The collection itself is a vintage mix of one part rock and one part roll.

Of course, girls being boys and boys being girls and girls who are boys who like boys to be girls (yes that last bit from taken from a Blur song) was made even more buzzworthy recently with an article on TIME.com about Casey Legler, the bequiffed 35-year-old model with a razor-sharp jawline and tats who has just been signed to the mens division at Ford Models to rock menswear - take that boys!
But you know what, it's all very 'Tilda' to me (as in Swinton), because if anyone knows how to 'do' androgyny and fashion, it's Tilda. But look out for Lea T or Andrej Pejić fronting the next Saint Laurent women's campaign soon....I'm joking of course.... or maybe not.
