Shoes on Film: Camilla Skovgaard's Hotel Skovgaard, Room 77

Camilla Skovgaard's latest fashion film to promote her new AW12 and Resort 2013 collections is a dark and moody affair with surreal and hypnotic effects which explores a gritty, grunge-esque and erotic underworld.
"Hotel Skovgaard, Room 77" was shot by Michel Dierickx and directed by the Denmark-born footwear designer's longtime friend Ali F. Mostafa, with music by Zebra Katz, the culture-fusing rapper whose song "Ima Read" provided the entire soundtrack to Rick Owens catwalk show last season - Derek Blasberg even hailed it as "the song of #PFW".
On the track for Skovgaard's short, haunting vocals are taken from Katz's forthcoming collaboration with UK-based artist, Touch.

Shot in Dubai, Hotel Skovgaard, Room 77 highlights the designer's personal interpretation of fashion, beauty and darkness - reinforcing that her innovative and avant-garde creations (she masterminded the saw sole), are a bold and transgressive fusion of elegance, domination, sex and independence.

Watch the film below, which begins with one of my all-time favourite quotes, "No excellent soul is exempt from a mixture of madness". (
Aristotle)
