Kilian Martin x Altered Route

What do you get if you mix one of the most innovative and creative skateboarders in contemporary culture, Kilian Martin, with an abandoned family fun park in the Mojave Desert....?

The film you're about to see below, entitled "Altered Route", that's what.

Even if you're not into skate culture (I am, obv), this is still a captivating visual feast which will melt your eyes off. Made by filmmaker Brett Novak, it follows Kilian as he explores a disused luna park on four wheels, with some seriously cool board control and spontaneous moves which are almost gymnast-like, with a pretty slick dance-edge to them too.
It's not just Kilian's unique skills that make this short so stunning though - the melancholic backdrop of a once glorious Americana around him is also moving - lost to the desert dust like rolling tumbleweed, with the memories of the good old times re-traced briefly by his skateboard as it journeys through the park and its past.
An atmospheric soundtrack by Patrick Watson also makes this unique skate film one of the loveliest things I've ever seen.
