Roy Lichtenstein x Sleeping Girl 1964

Tomorrow in NYC, Sothebys will auction the Sleeping Girl (1964), a painting by one of my favourite artist's Roy Lichtenstein, as part of its Contemporary Sale.
Exhibited all over the world including London, Los Angeles and Hong Kong, the painting is a paradigm of his renowned Girls series which epitomises his Benday-dot technique and comic-book inspired aesthetic.

Sotheby's auctioneer Tobias Meyer has interviewed legendary art dealer Irving Blum in a video about the sale, which also includes some pretty cool archive photos of the era when Blum famously ran the Ferus Gallery in L.A. (1957-1966).
In another video to mark the sale, film maker and designer Tom Ford explores the narrative behind one of Lichtenstein's most iconic artworks. Watch them both HERE
