Kristen McMenamy x MAC

Cosmetics giant MAC is plugging its upcoming 'Reel Sexy' collection by plonking iconic supermod Kristen McMenamy in a cinema, wearing some pretty full-on bold, David Bowie-meets-Tilda-Swinton-like make-up, while she engages us by visually acting out her emotions on screen.
A round of applause to MAC for their genius idea of a cinematic experience avec Kristen, because it means we obviously can't stop staring at her make-up, which is also very 80s-inspired and a bit Visage, "Fade to Grey".
Her now-trademark grey hair is also *interesting*.....mainly because it reminds me of that marshmallow fluff you get in jars, and a beehive that's just been violently attacked (and parted) by the wind.

Shot by McMenamy's husband Miles Aldridge, with direction by MAC’s Creative Director James Gager, the promo campaign/short film was inspired by the bold beauty of iconic movie heroines and by Hollywood-land's contemporary leading ladies who regularly wear the brand's products on the big screen. The film promotes the new, colour-popping bright coral range with an amplified finish (we're talking high-saturation, high-impact, high-everything that gets you noticed), and includes lipstick ('Pink Popcorn' and 'Heroine'); Eye kohl and eye shadow duos with pearlised and metallic pigments; Powder blush such as 'Pink Cult'; Cremesheen glass in peach and violet shades called 'Private Screening', 'Cinestyle' and 'Star Quality'; Nail varnishes in vivid orange and violet with names like 'Screening Room' and 'Vivid Effect'; Zoom fast lash (mascara) and Lightscapade mineralise skinfinish with a multi-dimensional finish that makes your skin shimmer (good for the morning after a late night out).

The collection is available from April 30 from maccosmetics.co.uk, and as McMenamy told Vogue.com in 2010, “You can get older and still be rock-’n’-roll." Watch the film below (courtesy of Nowness.com), and you'll see why she's SO right.
