Jean Paul Gaultier x Puppets x Diet Coke

Move over all those other soft drink x designer collaborations (yes I'm talking DVF, Lagerfeld, Moschino, Zac Posen, Patricia Field, etc...) the King of the stripey top, Jean Paul Gaultier, has topped them all by being named creative director of Diet Coke in Europe - and will design a limited edition collection of bottles and cans to be officially unveiled next month.
In a nod to his design signature of flattering the female form, the bottle will take the shape of a woman's body - a similar vision to his iconic 'Classique' fragrance, which was encased in an ultra-feminine curvy glass bottle resembling a woman's body wearing a flesh corset.
No doubt his designs for the Diet Coke bottles and cans will also include a hint of Parisian panache.

The couturier will also help develop concepts for the brand's ad campaigns (lensed by Stéphane Sednaoui) and to kick off his collaboration, he stars in three short films produced by French agency Wolkoff Arnodin entitled "The Night & Day Serial Designer".
Gaultier plays a therapist, a journalist and a private detective in the promo films for Diet Coke's YouTube channel, showcasing his work for the brand and probably the first time you've ever seen him talking to a bunch of puppets?! In the first video released today he helps Irene (the puppet) to solve her wardrobe dilemmas! (basically he gives her a rock chick makeover).

Obviously the fash pack knew this collaboration announcement was coming, after Gaultier provided Diet Coke on the frow at his Paris Fashion Week show last Sunday. Slight giveaway there!
The second and third films in the promo series ( 'Bernadette's Romance' and 'Eleanor's Thriller') will premiere tomorrow (Friday 9) and Saturday (10) on, but for now, watch the first one below entitled 'Irene's Musical':

I'm sure JPG's designs will be chic and fun, but my fav diet coke x fashion collaboration is still legendary photographer Ellen Von Unwerth's 2009 indigo blue bottle design, which featured one of her iconic images on the front. It's so striking and sexy!
