GALLIANO TO SCHIAPARELLI?

Er. Nope. Despite rumours surfacing earlier this week (via WWD) that the disgraced designer would join Italian brand Tod's to revamp the Schiaparelli label which has been under the company's umbrella since 2007 - founder and chief bigwig at Tod's Diego Della Valle dismissed the gossip as "untrue". Galliano's own spokesperson also told Vogue UK the suggestions were "just rumours and nothing more."

Della Valle also confirmed he had considered several other names for the Schiaparelli role which has been without a head designer since its acquisition in 2007 - Brit Giles Deacon was among them.

SUSIE BUBBLE VS TOPSHOP

Susie Lau aka Susie Bubble wrote a series of tweets to Topshop wagging a virtual finger at the retailer for basically knocking off CSM graduate and young Brit designer Yasmin Kianfar's lazer cut dress.
Kianfar was hailed as "British fashion's latest name to watch" in 2011 by Vogue UK and her debut SS11 collection was stocked exclusively in Browns in London - the cutting edge boutique renowned for discovering and launching emerging design talent.

Lau tweeted, "It’s not the first time I’ve asked high street retailers to take down designs that copy young designers so here goes…

Yasmin Kianfar S/S 11 vs. @Topshop current lazer cut dress? http://tinyurl.com/83c3dpz http://yfrog.com/oe7izicj

Come on @Topshop, @YasminKianfar is too small a designer to be aping. I say, take it down!

Just so you know, I still love you @Topshop and it’s no skin off your back to take down one design misdeed off the site
…"

-------------------- THEN THIS HAPPENED (2 hrs later) ----------------

"Yay @Topshop will be taking down the dress (24 hrs to effect)"

Good for Susie whose blog is one of very few I read daily, and good for Topshop, who to be fair DO support and showcase new designers, and have been doing so via their sponsorship of the BFC's NEWGEN scheme since 2001.

YOU CAN'T FAKE FASHION, NO SIREE!

Betsey Johnson

In 2011, eBay and the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) collaborated on a campaign entitled 'You Can’t Fake Fashion’, which aimed to bring awareness of counterfeit designer goods online.
Back for 2012, this years campaign features over 75 CFDA designers including Kate Spade, Diane von Furstenberg, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Narciso Rodriguez and The Row, all designing their own one-of-a-kind tote to be sold on eBay starting from March 20, with a "Buy it now" price of $200. Accompanying the designer totes will also be four limited-edition standard totes with the tagline ‘You Can’t Fake Fashion’ retailing at $45.

GIVENCHY DISCO BALLS x 2 CLOTHES HORSES

Jagger

Kroes

Doutzen Kroes covers Vogue Paris for April, wearing a similar shimmery disco ball-like ensemble by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy to the one Georgia May Jagger wore on the cover of Harpers Bazaar March. Personally, I think Georgia has this one....

COCA-COLA x PLAY COMME DES GARÇONS

Another makeover for the soft drinks brand that just loves fashion, as design student Ashley Shen has created a new packaging design which pays homage to PLAY Comme des Garçons. It's not confirmed if the cans will be available to purchase yet, but congrats to avant-garde designer Rei Kawakubo who it was announced earlier this week, will receive the CFDA 2012 'International Award' for outstanding creative contribution to fashion.
And while we're on the subject (of the CFDA's that is), WHO decided that Johnny Depp would receive the 'Fashion Icon' Award this year? Really? REALLY?!! .....
