Dockers Alphas SS12: Denim Replacement Therapy

Ok, just HOW COOL are the new SS12 Dockers Alphas for men?!

The iconic chino pant has been re-worked, this time fusing a 50s Beat Generation aesthetic, in a slim tapered fit, cut in a heavier weight khaki fabric to ensure maximum wrinkling, ageing and that look which says you've been wearing them for like....ever!

Available in various finishes, patterns and colours such as vibrant Rio Red, Sapphire Blue, and eye-popping tangerine - you'll definitely stand out from the crowd. For the less brave among you, the palette also extends to more muted shades such as brown, beige, green and navy.

No doubt when our Summer eventually arrives, the rolled cuff look of 2009, 2010 and the 'triple cuff' of 2011 will be revived yet again for 2012 -  so expect to see men everywhere channelling #HuckleberryFinn along with their obligatory deck shoes or retro espadrilles (please no formal shoes or flip flops, men + hairy feet = eyes no likee).

Although these new colour chino's totally have that unisex factor, so expect to see me and lots of girls wearing them rolled up too, looking like we're about to go paddling at the beach. I HEART the Rio Red!

The rolly uppy style can be traced back to the 40s, 50s and 60s, with icons such as James Dean, Marlon Brando and Elvis immortalised in imagery depicting them with trews rolled inches above their shoes ( I didn't mean for that to rhyme). However, it's perhaps the 50s beat generation who made the casual rolled-up cuff their signature, albeit in an unintentional non-fashion moment. The writers, artists, poets, musicians and visionaries of the era found clothing to be of little value and purely for practical purposes - hence the term 'beat' as in worn out shabby style.
So folks, this season we should all be nonchalantly stepping out of our houses rocking our 'Dishevelled Dockers' colour combo's, with an air of having made little or no effort at all. Never mind the fact we've just spent hours in front of the mirror perfecting the look....Sshh! I won't tell if you don't.

Dockers Alphas are priced at £85 and are available from gb.dockers.com and Boxpark in Shoreditch.
