Warhol: Headlines

Never mind the pop-art-ified Marilyn's and Liza's, or his bananas and tins of soup. Andy Warhol's preoccupation with the printed media also formed a large part of his work, and a new exhibition dedicated to the theme of headlines in the oeuvre of Andy Warhol, shows the artist as he's never been seen before.

'Warhol: Headlines' will include 80 works brought together from international collections, including paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, sculptures, and videos – exploring Warhol's unqiue treatment of the ambivalent character and sensationalism of contemporary media. The works depict themes such as celebrities, death, catastrophes, and current events, sharpened by his signature style.
The exhibition will be presented at three acclaimed museums - it's already shown at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. - following on with the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna in Rome, the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and next at the MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt from February 11th to May 13th.
