Next Big Thing: Marlon Roudette

A fusion of Maverick Sabre, Josh Kumra (he of the Wretch 32 collaboration Don't Go), John Mayer (if he was singing this song that always makes me blub ), Finley Quaye and David Gray - Marlon Roudette's voice is so infectious, I predict you will be listening to him quite alot this year.

The son of British producer Cameron McVey (Massive Attack, All Saints), and stepson of  Buffalo Stance legend Neneh Cherry (hands up if you did the rap in front of your bedroom mirror? *puts hands up*) - Roudette was mainly raised by his artist mother, Vonnie Roudette, on the Caribbean island of St Vincent. His Grenadine roots often influence his music which mixes ska and reggae with mainstream pop and the odd rapping vocal thrown in.
You may recognise his face in a new guise, as the old one was part of electro-fusion duo Mattafix, who had a hit in 2005 with Big City Life.

His debut single New Age (vid below) topped the German charts for a record-breaking six weeks - Sshh, don't tell The Hoff.

His forthcoming album Matter Fixed is out in March and catch him live at Camden Barfly as part of HMV's Next Big Thing gig on February 5th. He's one of the loveliest peeps in music, so check out his latest single Anti-Hero (below), and then go and tell him how much you love it over on his Twitter page HERE
