Disney x Joy Division?!

Image © Disney

You probably read the title of this post and thought 'Eh? What exactly have Disney and Joy Division got in common!?' Well not much actually, apart from the T-shirt (above), which has been designed to be sold online and in Walt Disneyworld and Disneyland resorts.

The tee is an homage to Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures album apparently, with the Disney Store website describing it as: “Inspired by the iconic sleeve of Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures album, this ‘Waves Mickey Mouse Tee’ incorporates Mickey’s image within the graphic of the pulse of a star. That’s appropriate given few stars have made bigger waves than Mickey!"

Uh huh. Perhaps someone should make Disney aware that Ian Curtis (lead singer of Joy Division, obv) committed suicide by hanging himself in 1980 - and that the band's name actually refers to the areas within concentration camps during the 2nd World War, where female prisoners offered their *Ahem* services to the German guards!
Not so much 'when you wish upon a star' now huh!
