Anna Dello Russo's Top 10 Xmas Rules: Don't Look Like A Transvestite

She's as mad as a box of hair, which is why fashion adores Anna Dello Russo, and naturally one would expect some advice from the style icon on how we should dress ourselves for the party season. So get ready to ditch that lovely warm winter coat, because in ADR's Top 10 Xmas fashwan rules, it's all about rocking the Suri Cruise look, aka wearing nothing but a dress in zero degrees (but the frostbite and hypothermia will SO be worth it when your friends see your hospital). If you haven't already seen her blog, it's a must-read, for the brilliantly broken English and sporadic CAPS-lock outbursts alone. She's endearing if nothing else (crazy). Oh, and can I just say, ignore No.10 in her rules. Everyone knows it's traditional to perform that face-meet-floor move and gift everyone a view of your spanx-it-till-it-fits tum 'n' bum after too much Advocaat.

ADR's Top Ten:

1. Don’t wear RED or GREEN outfits.
You will look alike (sic) a Christmas tree.
2. Forget any COATS
(also if outside it’s only 5 degrees).
You should make a big impact
just with your dress.
3. Choose a GOLD:
You will emphasize the idea
to be a Christmas GIFT to be unwrapped.
4. Go to the hairdresser, facial,
manicure and pedicure.
Don’t be worry to be OVER-DONE!
5. Choose between HAT and MAKEUP,
if you wear a hat keep fresh face
otherwise you will looks like a transvestite.
6. Wearing lots of JEWELLERY.
the sound of JEWELLERY banish
bad thoughts and bad ghosts.
7. Focus on the SHOES.
Generally at Christmas party you spend
a lot of time seated on the sofa.
8. Shoes have to carry all this
magical atmosphere:
Choose sparkling, shiny, eccentric, metallic,
decorative, precious, brocade, extravagant,
color-full, magnificent, enchanting
9. Don’t be worry about your BAG,
you immediately will forget it on some chairs.
10. Don’t throw yourself on the buffet,
don’t overdo with drinks,
It’s not POLITE!”

I also just had to share her latest blog post - an ode to the Advent Calendar (or ADRVENT as she prefers to call it), with her own "unique" design, (above). If you can make sense of her wunderbar waffling, you obviously got far too many ology's at school. I particularly like the last part, "every day you will got a surprise." Brilliant. Just brilliant. I hope you all do 'got' one. Happy CHRISTMAS!
When I was a child, I was fascinated

Count the days to CHRISTMAS.
Beginning December 1st open one window
each day starting with NUMBER 1.

The last window NUMBER 24 opens

Every day you will got a surprise…
every day make a WISH…”
