Rankin's Hunger

I can officially say that the new biannual glossy from photographer Rankin - Hunger - totally achieves its aims to transcend seasons and cycles and produce content that encourages readers to embrace the 'here and now', whilst thinking of the future - staying hungry for more.

The launch issue offers two covers (as will all further editions) - paying homage to folk in popular culture who have made a mark in their respective fields. Welsh actor Rhys Ifans pulls off mean and moody perfectly for the debut cover, brandishing a dagger in front of his face - while model/singer/actress Sky Ferreira looks like she just crawled out from the undergrowth for the second cover. Rankin lensed the entire 512-page issue, which also includes interviews with Erin O'Connor, Plan B, Michael Sheen and Ray Winstone (alright darlin') along with a profile of actor Terence Stamp. Model Heidi Klum, actress Milla Jovovich and singer Kelly Rowland also pop up in the mélange of fashion shoots - and thanks to Hunger’s digital platform, hungertv.com, you can see behind-the-scenes films of the shoots as well as other exclusive content.
I loved this short film from the website in which Rankin collaborates with artist Damien Hirst on Myths: Monsters and Legends featuring model Dani Smith.
