Metro, Edited By Ze Kaiser (That's Karl Lagerfeld To You & I)


Following on from the success of the Lady Gaga x Metro campaign (remember, twas the one where the newspaper exclusively streamed her "Born This Way" album in May) - Metro is now collaborating with Chanel designer and chief ponytail wearer - Karl Lagerfeld - as the Kaiser steps in as guest editor for a special collectable edition due out on February 7th 2012.
'The world according to Karl’ will mark the launch of Metro's coverage of all four fashion week's in New York, London (including McQueen and Stella M showing again, hur and rah!) and will be distributed across the world, featuring illustrations and commentary from the designer - hopefully not commentary like, "Fashion is the healthiest motivation for losing weight". Hmm, an awkward moment gifted to you by Karl Lagerfeld right there.

That huge faux pas aside - prior to the special edition, Metro will also launch a ‘Look Book’ competition, where readers can submit a fashion statement to the global website (something like..."I love clothes. The End") and promote it via social networking site Facebook. The winner's prize is a trip to Paris to take on the role of the designer's editorial assistant, which should be fun according to Karl, "I love daily papers and it's fun to be part of one of them just for the day. Metro is on a worldwide scale and it's even more fun," he said. Fun? Lagerfeld? This is almost as creepy as when Anna Wintour smiles.

Just so you know, Gaga's guest edit edition in May reached more than 800 million people across the globe, so I'm assuming just like the lil' monsters - fashionistas everywhere will be clambering to get their hands on a copy. There's just one thing I want to know, will it include a guide on 'how to get that ultra-sleek ponytail you've always wanted'.
