On My Radar: A Fusion Of Pop Art & Culture...Meet Technodrome

With paintings reminiscent of the late Jean-Michel Basquiat, Takun Williams, aka Technodrome, is a portrait artist whose work takes popular characters and celebrities and transforms them into an abstract vibrant neon graphic, which at times has a touch of the psychedelic about it.
From Karl Lagerfeld and the iconic Chanel logo, to Wonder Woman, Christina Ricci, Sesame Street's Big Bird and Apple co-founder who recently passed away - Steve Jobs - Brooklyn-based Williams has a unique way of blending pop art and culture. He's been on my radar for a while, which is why I'm so glad he's making his UK debut with an exhibition on November 17th at Notting Hill's GG Gallery. In a showcase which will also feature unseen paintings of fashion and music icons including Naomi Campbell and Kanye West - the exhibition will also present pieces created in memory of the lost souls in Japan's Tsunami.  Running alongside the showcase will be a display of limited edition Nunettes sunglasses designed by Japanese Street artists, with all proceeds from sales of the shades going to charities working to rebuild the lives of those affected.
