Matt Momchilov: American Leather

If you don't already know by now, I'm a sucker for leather and studding. Bags, shoes, name it, I WANT IT! (so yes, it was customary for me to faint when I saw Burberry Prorsum's tumbled leather studded S/S 11 jacket ).
And talking of studding and leather jackets, artist Matt Momchilov (I heart his work) currently has an exhibition running in Los Angeles entitled "American Leather", which showcases a collection of jackets he designed for The Painted Bird's new boutique. In case you're unfamiliar with TPB, it's one of San Francisco's super-shops, stocking an impeccable selection of vintage wares.
Matt's exhibition explores the cultural and visual language of punk, fashion and fan art, using personalities of our time by committing them to leather jackets furnished with studding. And yes, I WANT!
My favourites (pictured below) are the Stevie Nicks Wild Heart jacket and the Robert Mapplethorpe Self-Portrait 1978 jacket, that one will raise a few "cheeky" eyebrows....
