Gucci Announces Spotlighting Women Documentary Award

Luxury fashion label Gucci and its parent company PPR’s Corporate Foundation for Women’s Dignity & Rights have launched a new documentary film award.
Gucci is already a sponsor of the documentary genre for the Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund, now in its fourth year, in association with the Tribeca Film Institute.
The new Spotlighting Women Documentary Award - will offer a $50,000 (£30,900) prize fund to a minimum of two film projects annually that “illuminate the courage, compassion, extraordinary strength of character, and contributions of women from around the world.”
In a statement, PPR’s chairman and CEO (and husband of Gucci-clad actress Salma Hayek) François-Henri Pinault said: “I’m very pleased that the PPR Foundation has partnered with the renowned Tribeca Film Institute. This award dedicated to films about women is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness about women’s issues such as violence, rights, and empowerment to a large audience.”
